Works perfectly for tricky cross-grain rail cuts, eliminating the need to make the router table fence and mitre slot parallel. Small and narrow cuts will be no problem. A 500 lb. holding clamp and a special abrasive strip hold your material in place once you align it flush with the outer edge. Just glide the sled along your router fence using the sturdy plastic handle. Cut into the backer block (reducing sloppy tearout), completing your cut. Backer block is replaceable, allowing use of multiple profiles. This 4-3/4" x 15-3/4", 3/8" thick PVC sled can also hold smaller workpieces, keeping fingers away from dangerous blades. I find that when appling pressure to the hold down, the plastic base will pull up which takes the base off the router table. I will be returning this product because the base is not strong enough to resist the pressure exerted by the hold down. This tool is not very well constructed. |
